Justice Was Served
Posted by jcline on March 5th, 2005 filed in UncategorizedWell, I just had my first experience on jury duty. No, not the kind where you go in and sit around for a week waiting to be called, the real deal. I was part of the first group to be called to a case last friday. Like most people, I would have rather been back at work…
After sitting through 2 days of jury questioning, I was surprised to find that I was not booted due to any strong beliefs I had about police, God, etc.
We began hearing evidence on Tuesday and started deliberation on Friday. We reached a verdict at a common time for such things, from 3:00-5:00 pm on friday.
I now have a totally different outlook on the jury. I was so impressed with how soberly and extensively my fellow jurors looked at the evidence to consider their decisions. Being the foreman, I had a fun time mediating and directing the discussions.
I think we will all get together for dinner sometime soon since we all became friends in such a short time.
So next time you get your summons, it just might change your life for the better.
